Madison, WI – Three Killed, One Critically Injured in Rollover Crash on Cross Country Rd
Madison, WI (November 10, 2025) – A tragic rollover crash in Madison claimed the lives of three people and a dog early Saturday morning, leaving another man in critical condition. The Madison Police Department (MPD) confirmed that the crash occurred on November 8, around 1:30 a.m., near Cross Country Road and Ambleside Drive on the city’s southwest side.
Authorities said that the group had just left a nearby tavern before getting into their vehicle and heading eastbound on Cross Country Road. Shortly afterward, the vehicle lost control and rolled over, resulting in catastrophic damage. First responders from the Madison Police and Fire Departments arrived at the scene to find multiple occupants trapped inside the wreckage.
Tragically, a 31-year-old woman, a 43-year-old woman, and a 51-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene. A small dog traveling with them also died in the crash. A 39-year-old man survived but suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe that both speed and impairment were contributing factors in the collision. Police also noted that none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The Madison Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the deadly incident.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased victims. We also hope the injured individuals make a swift recovery.
Rollover Accidents in Madison
Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle accidents, often resulting in severe injuries or fatalities due to the high-impact nature of the event. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, rollover collisions account for a significant percentage of fatal crashes in the state, particularly when speeding, impairment, or lack of seatbelt use are involved.
Madison’s roadways, especially those connecting residential and nightlife areas like Cross Country Rd, can be particularly hazardous during late-night hours when alcohol impairment is more common. Even a brief lapse in judgment behind the wheel can lead to irreversible consequences, not only for drivers and passengers but also for their loved ones.
When a crash involves alcohol or drugs, liability can become complex, especially if multiple parties contributed to the events leading up to the accident. Victims or surviving family members may have grounds to pursue legal action through a personal injury or wrongful death claim. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, funeral costs, lost wages, and emotional suffering.
