Jefferson City, MO – Minor Injuries Reported After Truck Hits Train at Hughes Rd & Industrial Dr

Jefferson City, MO (November 13, 2025) – One woman suffered minor injuries after a pickup truck crashed into a train on November 11.

The collision occurred around 2:55 p.m. at the intersection of Hughes Road and Industrial Drive, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.

A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 55-year-old man from Jefferson City, was heading south on Hughes Road. As the truck approached the crossing, an eastbound Union Pacific train was traveling along the tracks.

Police said the train gave an audible warning as it neared the intersection. Warning signs were also posted in the area.

Despite the alerts, the truck struck the train. A 49-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The truck was badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

Investigators are still reviewing the events leading up to the crash. Our thoughts are with the injured woman, and we hope for her full and speedy recovery.

Truck Accidents in Jefferson City, Missouri

Truck accidents in Jefferson City, like the recent collision involving a train, highlight the dangers that large commercial vehicles pose on city roads. While this incident fortunately resulted in only minor injuries, many truck-related crashes can cause devastating harm due to the size and weight of the vehicles involved.

According to data from the Missouri Department of Transportation, hundreds of truck accidents occur annually across the state, many of them involving serious injuries or fatalities. Intersections, especially those with rail crossings or heavy industrial traffic, are common sites for these collisions.

Truck crashes can happen for various reasons, including driver error, distracted driving, mechanical failure, and missed signals at crossings. In this case, investigators noted that both audible warnings and warning signs were present, which raises questions about whether the driver noticed or reacted in time.

Victims of truck accidents often face significant challenges after a crash, including medical bills, lost income, vehicle repairs, and emotional trauma. When someone is injured in a truck accident due to another party’s negligence—such as a distracted or inattentive driver—they may have the right to seek compensation for their damages.

Working with a qualified truck accident attorney can help victims understand their legal rights and explore available options. An experienced lawyer can help gather evidence, manage communication with insurance companies, and pursue fair compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other related losses.
